God of Purpose,
Examine our hearts, minds and spirits so that we can conform to the image of Your Son as we move into the places where you want us to go. Move self out of the way so that we see You. Mold us and blow Your breath upon us once again to give us that life-giving force to shake us out of complacency and move us into a radical newness. You have called us to "build a Christian Community where people praise God, meet Jesus, grow spiritually and serve others in Christ's name". Help us to put this into action in a defining way that satisfies You. Help us to be shaped by Your Holy Spirit so that we can fulfill our purpose and that it brings glory to Your name and transformation to the world. In the name of Your Sacrificial Lamb-Jesus. Amen. |

40 Days of Purpose Church-Wide Campaign |

Coming up in the fall we are offering an exciting, church-wide 40 Days of Purpose Campaign. The campaign is based around the national bestseller The Purpose Driven Life, a 40 Day Devotional by Rick Warren; this books aim is to help Christians grow in their journey with Christ as faithful disciples. Everyone will have the opportunity to experience a life group with only a 6-week, short-term commitment. The program includes: - Eight Sunday worship themes and sermons;
- 6-week group Bible Study for adults in Sunday morning or weekday and weeknight gatherings;
- Material for children and youth in Sunday School;
- Events for everyone: a Kick-Off, a Ministry & Mission Fair and a Celebration.
This is an excellent program to foster growth in discipleship, help create a sense of unity, and bring God’s healing as we focus on our mission together. Life Group Sign-Up – Host

Tailgate Party at FUMC
Sat. September 11, 3 - 5:00 p.m
I hope you'll join me and the FUMC family on Saturday, September 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. for our kickoff to 40 Days of Purpose. Life groups will be starting up during the week of September 19, but the kickoff event is a time for us to come together and fellowship . . . to dunk Pastor Steve in the dunk tank . . . to share some food together . . . to dunk Pastor Steve . . . to begin our journey together exploring the question "Why am I here on this earth?" . . . to dry Pastor Steve off, then dunk him again. We're gonna have some fun, and I invite you to be a part of it. Following our kickoff event, we'll have worship at 5 p.m. in the main sanctuary -- a change from our usual Saturday evening Hale Chapel venue. So, bring your family, bring your friends, bring your spiritual curiosity and, for goodness sake, bring someone who can throw a baseball! See you there. Kevin Williams
