Established in 2015, this ministry has been set up with the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB). Food is donated through the Northern Illinois Food Bank by local grocery stores. Food is distributed to those needing to stretch their budget. Food is picked up from local grocery stores - food that is near or at the ‘sell by’ date but is perfectly good food. The truck arrives between 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., then set up and distribution begins. Held at the Nunda Township Office at 3510 Bay Rd. Crystal Lake 60012. The food distribution starts around 11:30 AM every Friday (except holidays).
Registration is required for the participants and is used for organizing the order of participants.
Volunteers, about 12 people, are needed from around 10:30 AM until about 2:30 PM and are needed to interact with the guests, set-up the tables, sort food, manage selections, and clean-up.
